Tajamul Islam

Doctors all over the world are given the stature next to God. It happens so mostly because they are lifesavers who work tirelessly for mankind. Moreover, being a doctor is considered one of the most sought-after professions. People want their kids to become doctors and they instill this dream in them from an early age.
Doctors’ profession is a noble profession. As we all know, there is no one on this earth who doesn’t need a doctor. From minor flu to fractures to complicated surgical procedures in some way or the other we need doctors. Just think what it will be if there are no doctors to heal us? Doctors are termed as God’s friends as they deal with real human lives. These God’s friends study for years and then for the rest of their lives use this knowledge for the betterment of living beings. Many doctors work as social workers and activists who help to get the health facilities to the poor who can’t afford them otherwise. Due to all this profession has been termed as the noble profession. Although the medical field is evolving, there are still immoral practices in the field which makes it tough for patients to get the right treatment. Corruption has not spared this field as well. In this time of pandemic, when most of the doctors are fighting at the forefront against the covid-19 tirelessly. There are still some doctors who give zero value to the humanity. Example of this is the recent death of pregnant woman along with her twins in MCH Anantnag. The woman was not treated by the doctors as she belonged to the recently declared covid-19 red zone. They kept watching her from the distance till she was dead. And later to prevent their image in society, they declared her covid-19 positive.
The hospitals diagnose the patients wrongly and give them the wrong treatment. This results in even more worse results. The public is losing its faith in the medical field and its doctors.
In another incident, a pregnant woman died due to negligence of doctors and the irony was that no ambulance was provided to the family to take the dead body. And they were forced to take it on stretcher. Actually doctors are for the service of humanity no doubt they are being paid for that. But nowadays, most doctors have made this noble profession a mode of business. These doctors have setup their own clinics and nursing homes where they charge patients with hefty amounts. Even these doctors don’t properly check the patients at government hospitals and tell them to visit their clinics for proper check up. These doctors only run after the money and they care less about the patients. Moreover, the greed for money has resulted in various losses of lives of patients. The hospitals diagnose the patients wrongly and give them the wrong treatment. This results in even more worse results. The public is losing its faith in the medical field and its doctors. As a result, this impacts the reputation of the medical field. Doctors must be more responsible and vigilant with the lives of their patients. The government must provide the public with good medical facilities which can bridge this gap. In addition, we must also come together to help doctors do their job better.
