Srinagar: Anantnag District Court has taken suo moto cognizance of death of two pregnant women in Anantnag and has directed SSP Anantnag to hold enquiry into the matter.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anantnag in his order has mentioned that committee has come to w through a video that had gone viral on social media sites where in a pregnant lady is being ferried on trolley by her relatives through the streets of Anantnag obviously for not having been provided an ambulance by the hospital authorities.
“The lady was not admitted in the hospital to deliver and was allowed to die without showing any compassion and without discharging duties.”
Order also mentions that this is not first incident of medical negligence but before a pregnant lady has also died at Bijbehara Hospital who was denied treatment and this authority cannot watch such medical negligence as mute spectator.
“Such kinds of negligence needs an enquiry and persons involved in negligence must be brought to book so that trust of people that they have lost in the working of administration is reposed.”
Pertinently, District and Session judge in this regard has ordered to hold an enquiry and directed SSP Anantnag to hold an enquiry in both cases.
He directed the SSP Anantnag to hold enquiry himself or by any other officer but not below rank of SP and enquiry must be completed within a period of 15 days and action against the persons involved must be taken as per law.
Doctors are maintaining that woman was initially progressing, however, was later shifted only after she developed some complications. Family, however, alleged that she died due to negligence of doctors and other staff at SDH Seer.
Following protests and criticism on social media, a doctor and a nurse were suspended and enquiry was also ordered by district development commissioner and CMO Anantnag.
Notably, on 25th April, a pregnant lady from Kharpora Kokernag along with her twins died at MCH Anantnag after she was allegedly denied treatment for being from red zone area.
After her death an enquiry was also ordered, however, inquiry committee in their report said that there was no medical negligence.
In their report, committee has mentioned that twins were already dead in womb of their mother and there was no medical negligence
