Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Friday recorded fifth death while as 14 more positive cases were tested positive for covid-19 taking the total number of positive cases to 328 in the UT.
A doctor at the SKIMS Bemina also known as JVC hospital, said that a 75-year-old man from Arampora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district breathed his last ten days after he was tested positive for Covid-19. “His body was sent to his home town amid proper protocol,” the doctor said.
Officials said that among new 14 cases nine are from Bandipora, three from Shopian and two from Kupwara district. Pertinently in last seven days more than 100 positive cases have been reported from Kashmir division only
A doctor at GMC Srinagar said in last 24 hours total 619 samples were tested at CD hospital laboratory and out of which three have been tested positive.
He said that 190 more samples were on Friday received and among them reports of 138 samples are yet to come. Till date 2293 samples were tested at CD hospital lab, he said adding that the three samples who were tested positive were received from District Hospital Shopian.
Officials said that three persons who were tested positive from Shopian include a PhD Student, a management graduate and 52-year-old lady. Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS said that 11 persons were tested positive today at SKIMS. He said that out of them 9 are from Bandipora and Kupwara.
As per officials from Kupwara, two more positives cases are from Red Zone Anderhama, both are contacts of earlier positive cases. They said that 44 other samples of Kupwara have tested negative and testing will be even more aggressive now in Anderhama area to break the chain.
Deputy Medical superintendent JLNM hospital Srinagar Dr Tabasum said 5 more patients were added to the hospital and now 30 positive patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Pulwama said 60 more samples were taken today at DH Pulwama and have been sent for reports. Pertinently on Friday J&K Union Territory witnessed fifth death due to covid-19 as a 70 year old covid-19 positive patient from Arampora Sopore in Baramulla district expired at JVC Bemina
Medical superintendent JVC Bemina Dr Shifa Deva said a 70 year old patient from Arampora Kupwara who was admitted before 10 days at JVC expired on Friday.
Deceased person was having a long medical history, she said, adding that at present around 95 covid-19 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Pertinently with the death of covid-19 patient from Kupwara, death toll in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has reached to five.
On 8th April, a 61 year old lady from Udhampur died at GMC Jammu. On 7 April, a 54 year old man from Bandipora died at SMHS Srinagar. On 29 March, a 50 year old man from form Tangmarg area died at CD hospital. On 25th March, a 65 year old Tableegi preacher from Hyderpora died at CD hospital
As per officials figures 78 positive cases including one death and 12 recoveries are from Srinagar, 75 including eleven recoveries and one death are from Bandipora, 42 including two death are from Baramulla, 12 including three recoveries from Budgam, 3 from Pulwama including one recovery, 17 from Shopian including two recoveries, 27 from Kupwara, 14 from Ganderbal, 4 from Kulgam and 2 from Anantnag in Kashmir division.
In Jammu division, 26 including four recoveries are from Jammu district , 20 including one death and five recoveries are from Udhampur, 4 from Samba and 3 from Rajouri including all recovered and one from Kishtiwar who has also recovered.
As per the daily information bulletin 59,205 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 7,631 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 281 persons are in hospital isolation while as 260 persons are under hospital quarantine.
According to the bulletin, 23,662 persons have completed surveillance period and 27,366 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,438 samples are available
