COVID-19 Containment: DC G’bal review arrangements, prioritizes sample collection from suspects

G’bal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal Friday convened a meeting of Health department and Tehsildars to review the arrangements in place for containment of the Covid-19.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Superintendent, District Hospital Ganderbal, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildars, District Health Officer, Block Medical Officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.
During the meeting DC sought details about the identification of contacts of Nizamudin, Delhi. The BMOs briefed the DC about the status in their respective jurisdictions.
The DC directed the concerned to trace all the Hazrat Nizamudin event contacts and place them in administrative quarantine besides initiating mass testing, within next two days.
To augment the surveillance in the district, the DC said more teams headed by BMOs concerned have been constituted, which will work under the supervision of concerned Tehsildars.
To avert the spread of the virus, the DC urged the concerned to prioritize collection of samples of all identified persons having travel history and submit the report to the DC Office on daily basis. The protective gear is being provided to the health department to ensure the safety of health workers while collecting sample from a suspected patient, he added.
While reviewing the facilities in quarantine centres, the DC directed the concerned that the persons testing negative must be kept in separate room in the quarantine centres. He exhorted the health functionaries to work with dedication and gear up activities to provide each and every facility to the inmates kept in quarantine centres across the district and directed them to ensure sensitization and proper cleanliness in and around the quarantine centres.
To avert any eventuality due to COVID-19 in the district, the DC sought the synchronization and cooperation among all officers and officials and said the District administration is in full swing and fully prepared besides sufficient stock of equipment and other related essentials have already been kept reserved to facilitate the affected patients of the district, he added.
Pertinently, the District Administration has distributed all necessary protective gears to the frontline workers and masks in Red-Zone areas to the people through PRI’s so that their safety is ensured besides the involvement of PRI’s is also initiated by the District Administration to ensure implementation of lockdown in the district
