As the month of March comes every year ,J&K Forest Department organises plantation drive in the premises of Schools, Hospitals,Panchayats, open places etc to mitigate the loss suffered due to ruthless deforestation from last centuries and to make awareness among people regarding importance and values of Forests. Orders and plantation programmes circulate online and offline to avail the cooperation of local people and the active participation of the Department. As the Global Warming and Green House Effect are serious threats for the existence of life. In this view , meetings have been held at local, national and global levels to save the planet in future. Ultimately, it has been concluded that, only afforestation is the effective method to save the planet from such global problems. Aerial transmission of epidemics like COVID-19, Swine flu and the origin is indicative. We must plant more and more trees in our premises and the premises of Govt institutions and open places, which can provide is fresh water. From last few centuries, we are becoming victims of disasters like flooding, dry seasoning, heavy rains and cold, global epidemics like Swine Flu, COVID-19 etc due loss suffered by our natural environment. As we heard,”prevention is better than cure”. Plantation of saplings in the premises of Houses is a noble cause. We are drifting towards material world, not noble causes like planting more and more trees. There are two ways to mitigate with natural epidemics like Corona Virus. One is preventive measure of planting more and more trees. Another is effective treatment and care for patients, what we called protective measure. As we know, human life is precious. It is the natural environment, which has made it more interesting and precious. Because, natural environment support our good health. In this view, plantation programs and efforts to increase green environment is noble cause. We can understand its value. As the charity is mandatorily given to the patients and poor. Poor people can’t support their good health. Therefore, planting trees is like giving charity. As the Global world faced several environmental problems. Several global, national and regional bodies like IUCN, UNEP, and WNO etc are fighting for their cause to combat global problems. Everlasting solution of these problems is planting more and more trees. When the plantation programs will be made successful at local level. International bodies’ success in their mission automatically gets success at global level. Therefore, we can say role of local people is more than international organizations to save the planet. Unfortunately, local people are not supportive and helping due to their unawareness and materialistic approach. In this view, J&K Department initiated to organize plantation drives from last several decades to make awareness among the masses and to seek cooperation of the people in dealing with environmental problems.
Involvement of all the people in noble cause of plantation is the only way to make planet green and to mitigate with natural disasters and epidemics like COVID-19, Swine Flu etc. Green environment supports good health.
About thousands of sapping are being planted on each plantation drive. About crores of saplings are being planted each year. Recently,DFOs issued orders to organize plantation drives in the premises of Panchayats, educational institutions, open places etc. It is the mission of the Department to make planet green from corner to corner. There is no best alternative, other than afforestation to deal with environmental problems. Famous saint; Shaikh Noor-din Wali has right said,”Un poshi teli yeli wan poshi”.He himself planted tree along roadside,so that travellers can take rest under their shadows. It is to be said,He was the first person , who brought Chinar tree in Kashmir. On 12th March 2020, Forest Department is going to organize massive plantation drive at Sanik School Mansbal, Kashmir. Each DFO along with their 40-50 Foresters planted about 50 lakh saplings. At last we reached at conclusion, planting trees is sunnah of saints. It is obligatory in all religions of the world to plant more and more trees. Plantation is global mission,as the environmental problems are our global concerns. J&K Forest Department put all its efforts to make awareness among masses regarding importance and values of Forests and to increase Forest cover by planting more and more trees. Involvement of all the people in noble cause of plantation is the only way to make planet green and to mitigate with natural disasters and epidemics like COVID-19, Swine Flu etc. Green environment supports good health.
