Srinagar: Director General Police Dilbagh Singh on Wednesday claims the militants are using VPN apps to contact their handlers in Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference in presence of Special Director General (DGP) of CRPF Zulfiqar Hasan and Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar Srinagar in Srinagar on Wednesday the police chief said “2G mobile internet services were restored to for the conveniences of the general public but militants are using VPN apps to contact their handlers in Pakistan” restored for the convenience of the people. But, militants are misusing the service and connecting VPN to contact their handlers in Pakistan.”
Claiming that the truck driver, who was ferrying militants from Jammu to Kashmir before they were intercepted and killed at Nagrota, was using VPN to connect with his handlers in Pakistan, the Director General police said “the driver had taken a photo of the encounter on January and sent it to Pakistan to inform their handlers that they have been intercepted by security forces,” he said.
The police chief said that the driver identified as Sameer Ahmed Dar, cousin of the Pulwama suicide bomber Adil Dar, disclosed these revealation during interrogation. As reported already Sameer the driver was arrested by Police when he was trying to escape from the Nagrota encounter site . Three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants were killed in the Nagrota encounter.
The DGP also claimed that Sameer also informer his handlers in Pakistan about his arrival on the spot on January 31 in Jammu where he, Dilbagh sad, was waiting for the militants, who had crossed over to this side.
VPN apps are in a great demand after the restoration of internet services across Jammu & Kashmir. The restrictions on 4 mobile internet facility on mobile phone are yet to be lifted in Jammu and Kashmir,the fixed line broadband internet services are operating in Jammu region but are yet to be restored in Kashmir since August 5 last year
