Advisor Kumar attends CMOs Conference in Srinagar

Srinagar : Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar Thursday said various projects initiated by the government for strengthening of health infrastructure and Medical & Nursing Education in the state would surely give boost to the health sector.
The Advisor made these remarks while addressing the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) Conference organized by the Department of Health and Medical Education, here Thursday.
Financial Commissioner H&ME, Atal Dulloo, Mission Director NHM Bhupinder Kumar, MD JKMSCL Shiv Gupta, Director Family Welfare Dr Arun Sharma, Director ISM, Principal GMC Srinagar Dr Parvaiz A Shah, Director Coordination, Dr Yashpal Sharma, Drug Controller D&FCO Lotika Khajuria, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma, Project Director JKSACS, Dr Mushtaq A Rather, other concerned officers and CMOs of Kashmir division attended the conference.
Besides, Principal GMC Jammu Dr Sunanda Raina, Director Health Services Jammu Dr Sameer Mattoo and CMOs of Jammu division attended the conference through video-conferencing.
The conference highlighted the key issues and action required for operationalization of various projects including 5 New Medical Colleges, 5 New Nursing Colleges, 21 ANM/GNM Schools, Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Akhnoor & Government Unani Medical College Ganderbal, 771 Health and Wellness Centres, Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (Centre of Excellence) at Srinagar, 34 Jan Aushadhi and 16 AMRIT Stores in Public Hospitals of the State, 3 additional Trauma Centres, 102/108 ambulance service, timely completion of pending/incomplete projects under PMDP, establishment of Skill & Simulation Labs at 5 New Medical Colleges and RIHFW Nagrota, implementation of PMJAY under Ayushman Bharat, provision of Kidney Transplant Services at GMC Srinagar, starting DNB courses (225 seats) in 16 facilities, creating Pool of 480 Master Trainers for ALS, BLS & Trauma Management, NQAS Certification of Public Health Facilities, implementation of IMR action plan, operationalizing 500 bedded Paediatric Hospital at Srinagar and Maternity Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, establishment of State Cancer Institute at GMC Jammu, setting up of State of Art–Emergency Operation Centres and establishment of Medical Rapid Response System in each district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor said many important projects in the health sector are underway and to ensure their completion in a given timeframe, coordinated and energized efforts are required. He said issues related to these projects including the requirement of funds, grant of necessary permissions and approvals would be taken up with concerned quarters for their timely redressal.
He said people of the state expect high-quality services from the health department and as such department should always be ready to meet the challenges. He said H&ME department has a team of professionals and the need is to motivate field functionaries so that results can be seen on ground.
Later, a detailed presentation was made by Financial Commissioner H&ME, Atal Dulloo to appraise the Advisor about the achievements made by the department in terms of strengthening of health infrastructure and Medical Education in the state.
Atal Dulloo also briefed the Advisor about the status of key health indicators of J&K, steps taken to strengthen legal and policy framework and efforts being made for strengthening human resource for health. Similarly, achievements registered under Ayushman Bharat, National Health Mission (NHM) and National Immunization Program were also highlighted and issues related to the successful implementation of these flagship programs were also discussed thoroughly.
With regard to National Immunization Program, it was informed that 100 percent target was achieved in MMR campaign covering 38 lakh children and 100 percent target was achieved in Mission Indradhanush, Tetanus Diphtheria vaccine introduced through-out the state. It was given out that Rota Virus Vaccine will be launched in September 2019.
