Hottest day in Srinagar, dry weather with partly cloudy sky predicted

Srinagar: The summer capital Srinagar recorded hottest day of the season so far after the maximum temperature recorded surge and settled at 33.2 degree while there is no immediate respite though sky would be partly cloudy during the next 24 hours.
The Metrological department has predicted isolated rain in the Kashmir region and Fairly Widespread in Jammu region while the weather will remain dry in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours. During the subsequent two days there could be increase in rainfall activity in the state, Met spokesman said here this evening.
He said Srinagar recorded hottest day of the July so far after the maximum temperature settled at 33.2 degree, three notches above normal. The minimum temperature was 17.7 degree, a notch above normal in the city. Met spokesman said in 1973, all time highest 39.5 degree was recorded on July 15.
He said during the next 24 hours, the weather will remain dry with partly cloudy sky and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 31 degree and 19 degree respectively in Srinagar.
Kupwara in north Kashmir was second hottest place with 32. 9 degree maximum temperature followed by Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway 32 degree, tourist resort of Kokernag 30.8 degree, famed health resort of Pahalgam 28.1 degree and world famous ski resort of Gulmarg 21 degree, which was slightly below normal.
He said Leh in Ladakh region recorded 30.3 degree maximum temperature and 15.9 degree minimum temperature while border town of Kargil on Srinagar-Leh national highway recorded 28.9 degree maximum temperature and 9.6 degree minimum temperature.
He said the sky would be mainly clear to partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree and 16 degree respectively during the next 24 in Leh.
