Anti Corruption Court Srinagar convicts Ex DC Kupwara, sent him to Baramulla jail for 2 yrs

Srinagar: Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar has sentenced Ex Deputy Commissioner imprisonment of 2 year imprisonment.
Shah Latief, the then Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, was convicted Monday by the Special. Judge of Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar, R.N. Wattal for offences u/s 5(1)(c) P.C. Act and Sec. 409 RPC in case FIR No. 18/2004 Police Station ACB Kashmir. The accused had embezzled an amount of Rs.178702/-.
Gulam Jeelani CPO and Riaz Ahmad Sr. P.O, pleaded the case on behalf of Anti-Corruption Bureau. In a statement to Valley Media Service, the accused (Shah Latief) has been sentenced with “One year imprisonment and a fine of Rs.2 Lac and in default thereof he will have to further undergo 6 months imprisonment u/s 409 RPC, Under Sec. 5(1)(C) P.C. Act the accused will undergo One Year imprisonment and Rs.2 Lacs of fined in default thereof, he will further undergo 6 months imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Shah was among several tainted officers from General Administration, Education, Revenue, RDD and UDD who were forcibly weeded out of State administration by Mufti Muhammad Syed led PDO-Congress alliance government in 2003.The convict was arrested on spot and sent to District Jail Baramulla.
