Srinagar/Feb, 28:A complete shutdown on second consecutive day onThursday in response to two day shutdown call of Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman and Mohammad Yaseen Malik againstllegal challenge to Article 35-A and NIA raids at the residences of top separatists including Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani hit normal life across Kashmir.
Reports said all shops, business establishments and private offices remained closed for the second consecutive day. The normal passenger traffic has also come to a grinding halt and private vehicles could be seen plying only in some up-town areas of Srinagar city.
Reports of complete shutdown also came from southern districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag and also from the northern districts of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora.
As already reported the NIA teams carried out raids at the residences of seven separatist leaders including the Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq (at Nigeen), JKLF chief Malik (at Maisuma), Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai (at Hyderpora), Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani’s son Naseem Geelani, Masrat Alam Bhat, Shabir Ahmed Shah and Zafar Akbar Bhat.
The NIA in its statement claimed to have seized “incriminating material” during the raids.
