NSCS asks JK govt to share data on immovable properties of Kashmiri migrants

New Delhi: The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) has sought data from Jammu and Kashmir government on immovable properties of Kashmiri migrants.
In an order, issued on 14 January, the NSCS – an executive government agency tasked with advising the Prime Minister’s Office on matters of national security and strategic interest – said that it is preparing an assessment of Kashmiri migrants (Pandits, Sikhs and others) who were displaced due to militancy in J&K.
The NSCS has sought area-wise details of landholdings and immovable property of Kashmiri migrants in the Kashmir valley in the 1990s. “Current landholdings and immovable property of Kashmiri migrants in the Kashmir valley, who are settled in other parts of J&K and rest of India. Area-wise data is requested,” said the order, issued by SM Sahai, additional secretary NSCS.
It has also sought data of immovable property belonging to Kashmiri migrants currently in the custody of the J&K government. “Area-wise details of ‘distress sales’ and alienation of immovable properties of Kashmiri migrants in the Kashmir valley since 1990s,” said the order, adding that the details should be shared at the earliest.
Following the communication, the divisional commissioner Kashmir has written to all the deputy commissioners, directing them to furnish the data on immovable properties of Kashmiri migrants within three days.
