Baramulla: Three militants were killed in Binnar area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Official sources said that Binnar village was cordoned off after government received inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The militants fired upon Forces personnel when they started the search operation.
SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Hussain said the gunfight ended with the killing of three militants whose identity is being ascertained.
“We have retrieved all the three bodies of the militants,” he said adding that prima facie it seems all the three militants belong to Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Unofficial sources identified the three slain militants as Abu Maaz, Abu Hamzah and Shoib Ahmed. “Among the three, two are non-locals.”
Meanwhile, internet service has been suspended in the parts of district.
From past three days, nine militants have been killed in Kashmir Valley.
