The recent incident in which a lady from tribal community gave birth to a dead baby due to negligence of doctors after treating her from a lower class community, has created a question mark on the credibility of health department. Consequently, many politicians took it as an opportunity to politicize the incident in order to achieve political millage for upcoming Loc Sabha Elections. Though, it was not a single incident of its kind but such kind of incidents happen here not only in health care centres but at various other places as well, one after other due to ill-treatment of so called upper-class of people to that of lower class, the distinction made by people themselves. On one hand if the incident is the result of lacking good health care facilities at far-flung areas of state, where people face the disconnectivity of all weather roads leading to Srinagar, particularly in winter months, but on the other hand the incident puts a big question mark on the values of people even in this present modern era.
Treating patients is the prime job of a doctors, but treating the normal people well humanly is far more necessary than treating the patients, as the later is an emotional matter . Treating others in the society with good manners depicts your good qualities. But once you lack the good qualities to behave good with others, you definitely lack the human nature. Though, the Human was created with best qualities. Almighty has endowed him with noblest soul among all the creatures. But the curse of bias based on some unnecessary things has left human at the juncture of complexity, where a human starts thinking differently about the class, culture, creed, colour and race. The demand of time is to think above and across the lines of creed colour , cast and race. We should not distinguish between been people on the basis of these unnecessary things.
What is being observed nowadays all around is the discrimination. The people from well off families, the people from elite class and the people with high influence are give a front position in a que and are treated with high respect and regard. Left are those who belong to poor, less influential families, communities considered downtrodden and those who are voiceless. This trend needs to have an end. It happens mostly in government offices, in hospitals, in buses, and at other public places that people look down on those who are not being considered at par with those of so called upper class. The upper and lower classes are the distinctions made by the man himself. If a poor person belonging to a community which is being considered not hi-fi approaches to any government office for any legitimate case, he is pushed back for none of the reasons other than his ill-fated belongingness with downtrodden community. However, the creator , Almighty had created all with equality. So to create a social barrier among the human beings is totally against the law of Almighty.
Human beings are made to shoulder different responsibilities in the society, accordingly every one has to perform a specific duty in order keep the sustainability of world intact. A farmer grows crops, a tribal produces diary products, a cobbler makes shoes, a bread maker makes bread , a labourer serves the people, a doctor treats patients, a sweeper sweeps floor etc. We can’t expect farming from a doctor, and can’t expect health treatment from a mechanic. Same holds true with other people belonging to other trades. So if we lack the ability to perform all jobs ourselves, then we are definitely interdependent on each other and it becomes our prime responsibility to respect each other for the varying professions people belong to. One thing is out of the understanding, that as to why a person with a same human face, same heart like ours wearing torn out clothes is being not treated well in present era. You can not underestimate those who live a tough life than you and struggle for the wellness of their dependents. The world is not a possession of only those who have accumulated hefty wealth by what ever the means. No doubt they have born with a sliver spoon in mouth. But think about those who can’t afford to have a body cover to their baby at the birth time. They are obviously those by vertue of whose hard and harsh efforts you enjoy your luxurious life.
The people belonging to the sections of farmers, cattle rearers, labourers etc. play a role in the society that even a king of country can’t equalise. The basic amenities and needs like food shelter, clothes are available to you due to those people who have a great contribution for it. Having a white collar profession, wearing a suit with tie, having proud on it and looking down on those with simple village type out fit is the fashion of the day. Some times you happen to see a person with tattered clothes, you immediately jump to guess that he is not a complete human and seems to have come from Jungle, you immediately start to consider him soulless, heartless and mindless body. But do remember he observes, feels, and realises the things better than you. All people whether belonging to rich or poor families, from this or that society, having black of white complexion, irrespective of race and creed do possess heart, do need respect, do need to uphold their dignity, do have their sentiments and emotions. You need to treat them well with a good respect equally along with others, so that you would earn a good respect from them in return equally. This distinction and gap created by us in the society due to our own narrow thoughts has benefited none but resulted with hatred, it decimates our values. So the need of hour is to create a space in your heart for those left out people who also deserve to be treated with a good dignity.
