Srinagar /Jan, 8: Former Education Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday felicitated students who qualified the 12thstandard annual examination and complimented the government run schools for fetching top positions in different streams.

Expressing great satisfaction over the performance shown by the government schools for figuring in the list of first 10 positions in the science, arts, commerce and home science streams, Bukhari appreciated the consistent efforts of the teaching and non-teaching staff, students and parents that made it possible.

“It is matter of great satisfaction for me to display extraordinary performance in Arts stream, the students of government-run educational institutions have walked away with the first 5 positions scoring between 98.6% and 98% marks,” Bukhari said.

The former education minister congratulated all the students who have qualified this examination with excellent scores particularly the toppers of Amirakadal constituency who were studying in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh and Government Higher Secondary School Amirakadal.

“It is an additional honour for me that the students of my constituency studying in government run schools are performing excellently. But it has been possible only with the efforts of talented faculty available in government schools, support of parents and the commitment of students. I wish all such students a good luck for their future,” he added.

The former minister hailed all the students of Kashmir division for their brilliant performance despite facing the turbulent security situation throughout their academic session.

“Defying all odds many of them topped the class 12thexamination which exhibits the potential of our children to make it possible,” Bukhari remarked.

He also complimented the parents and the civil society for their encouraging role that has resulted into visible improvement in the educational standards of the government schools over the past couple of years.

“The latest results are reassuring and speak volumes that despite having unfortunate and tragic disturbances in Kashmir, our students and teachers have put in their best efforts to make up for the losses,” he said.

Bukhari hoped that the results shown by the government run schools shall continue in the future. “The only thing needed is the motivation and encouragement, to bring about the much-needed turn around in the academic environment especially in our government schools.”

Hailing the efforts of the education department particularly the directorate of school education Kashmir for this remarkable performance, Bukhari stressed on the need of providing quality education with constant monitoring, uncompromising academic quality and individual attention to students to be adopted as the guiding principles of the education sector. Bukhari also hailed the State Board of School education for declaring the results within stipulated time period.
