Srinagar/Dec, 18: Ending three day shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the killing of seven civilians in Sirnoo village of Pulwama disitrict on Saturday last week, the people in Kashmir valley on Tuesday returned to their normal workdown Life returned to normal in Kashmir valley on Tuesday.
The commercial hub of Srinagar city and major commercial centres in other parts of Kashmir valley were abuzz with normal trading activity at shops, trade outlets, banks and business establishments . Employees in governments offices were seen returning to their routine wirk.
The public and private traffic was back on the roads while the government and private offices resumed their routine functioning.
On Saturday last week , seven civilians were killed after the government forces opened fire on protesters following a gunfight that left three militants and a soldier dead.
Soon after the civilian killings, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman and Mohammad Yasin Malik the JKLF Chairman had called for three-day shutdown to mourn and protest the civilian killings.
On Monday, police foiled the proposed march of the JRL to the army’s headquarters in Srinagar by imposing strict restrictions around the venue and elsewhere.
While the government forces had sealed areas leading to the army’s 15 corps headquarters from Sunday evening itself, top resistance leaders Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik were barred from marching towards the venue Monday.
