Police foil AIP march to UNMO office Srinagar, Er Rashid detained

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday foiled Awami Itehad Party (AIP) march to United Nations Military Observers (UNMO) office here by detaining chairman Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid alongwith several other supporters.
Er Rashid, former MLA from Langate constituency in the frontier district of Kupwara, appeared at Rajbagh alongwith his supporters today to march towards UNMO office to protest against killing of seven civilians in clashes with security forces in Pulwama on Saturday.
However, when the AIP chief and other party workers started reached Zero Bridge, security forces and state police swung into action and stopped them from moving ahead.
Police later took into custody Er Rashid and several other AIP supporters.
Seven civilians were killed in clashes, which were triggered after an encounter ensued between militants and security forces that left three ultras dead on Saturday in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. An Army jawan was also killed in the encounter.
“It is obvious that New Delhi has no resolution to Kashmir dispute except pellets, bullets, massacres and draconian laws. Governor Satpal Malik, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat must own the moral responsibility of the killings rather making fake enquires and condemnations,” Er Rashid told reporters before being arrested.
