Srinagar: The protocol for the use of any crowd control weapons around the world is to aim at the legs to disperse demonstrators, but in Kashmir, the paramilitary force and police have been deliberately firing at face and head to kill, said the chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on Sunday.
In a statement issued to GNS, Sehrai said, “As none of the powerful men who run Kashmir from Delhi expressed qualms over the blinding and killing of Kashmiri children, it has become clear that in its hubris, the Indian state had decided that snatching vision and killing from a few hundred and thousand people.”
Sehrai added, “The uprising against India’s rule over Kashmir is neither new nor surprising but the resentment of broken promises. The brutality of the state’s response is equally familiar. India always came down hard on a widespread uprising in Kashmir valley – killing, torturing, disappearing, and imprisoning thousands to silence the voices and demand of freedom.”
TeH chairman appealed United Nations Secretary-General to intervene and impress upon India to stop this “slow and constant genocide” of Kashmiris and facilitate the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Sehrai has strongly condemned the arrest of TeH activists Imtiyaz Haider, Ashraf Laya and others and confining the resistance leadership to their houses.
