Srinagar : A complete shutdown against the killing of scholar turn militant commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen for the third consecutive day on Saturday hit normal life in frontier district Kupwara.
Reports said that a complete shutdown is being observed in Kupwara town, Trehgam, Handwara, Langate and Lolab areas of the district.
A minor stone pelting protest was also reported from Potshai area of Lolab.
Authorities have closed all the schools and colleges as a ‘precautionary measure to maintain law and order’ in the area.
Reports said that the police have placed checking points at different places on the way leading to Lolab.
“Policemen are checking identity cards of all the persons and those not residing in the area are not allowed to move towards Lolab,” said groups of travelers on Kupwara- Sopore road
