Ramban : Inquiry Committee lead by Transport Commissioner, J&K, Dr. SP Vaid visits accident site, Kela Morh to conduct an in-depth inquiry into the October 6 tragic accident near Kela Morh on Srinagar-Jammu highway in district Ramban in which 22 precious human lives were lost.
The Committee is comprised of Deputy Commissioner Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat, DC Udhampur Ravinder Kumar, SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, SSP Traffic Shakti Pathak , Regional Transport Officer Jammu Deepraj Kanithia and other officers.
The Committee, investigated the reasons for the accident to fix the responsibility, if any, on official and measures to be taken to prevent recurrence of such accidents on national highway especially in Doda and Kishtwar including the measures for providing medical aid and evacuation in the event of accident and general suggestions for regulating traffic to ensure smooth movement on the highway in view of the ensuing fruit season and weather disruptions during the winter season.
This committee was constituted by the government after October 6 mishap at Kela Morh.
Committee also visited the District Hospital, Ramban and reviewed the emergency medical facilities available in hospital for the accident victims and passed necessary directions to CMO Ramban.
Later Vaid, chaired a meeting of Committee at Ramban and discussed causes of frequent mishaps, ways and methods of their prevention besides the menace of frequent traffic snarls between Udhampur and Banihal with the Committee members and dwelt on the suggestions to check mishaps and traffic jamming.
ADC Dr. Basharat Ahmed Hussain, CPO Uttam singh , CMO, Dr.Saif-ud-Din Khan ARTO Mohammad Saleem were among other senior officers who attended the meeting.
