Massive curtailment in security, accommodation facilities of legislators triggers a row

Srinagar : Massive curtailment in the security of sitting legislators both MLAs and MLCs and reducing the option of residential accommodation to one out of the two capitals for Srinagar or Jammu has triggered a row. The security has not been however curtailed to former Chief Ministers and few other legislators and parliamentarians already put under Z plus security category.
Quoting sources local news gathering agency KNS reported that security wing of Jammu & Kashmir Police has directed immediate implementation of the order issued for curtailing the security of legislators both MLAs and MLCs the Estates Department has sought the option of residential accommodation from all legislators both MLAs and MLA at one of the two twin capital cities Srinagar or Jammu .
Confirming both the curtailment in security and reduction in the residential accommodation to one of the two capital cities Srinagar or Jammu senior National Conference lead and MLA Sonawari Mohammad Akbar Lone when said “Yes the government has curtailed the security to all legislators both MLAs and MLCs and Estates Department has asked them to convey their choice for availing official accommodation only at one of the two capital cities Srinagar or Jammu. I believe that governor Satya Pal Malik is ill advised by the people sitting in higher corridors of power and the decision to curtail security and reduce the choice of official accommodation to only one capital city Srinagar or Jammu is tantamount to play with security of the life and property of the legislators who work in most difficult situations in the state. We won’t allow the governor to take such crucial decisions concerning security of the life of legislators and their families. If they can’t provide security to the legislators how come they can keep their promises on security and official accommodation to people contesting ongoing municipal and panchayat elections in the state.”
Repeated attempts to reach Additional Director General Police (Law & Order and Security) and Principal Secretary to Government in charge Estates Department failed .
