Baramulla : Prompted by the public complaints, Legal Metrology Department Baramulla has booked an edible oil manufacturer for resorting to lesser weight and for violating labeling norms in the manufacture and sale of edible oil packages.
Following consumer complaints lodged specifically against the Kamal Deep Brand edible oil, an inspection was carried out by the Legal Metrology Department District Baramulla headed by the Assistant Controller Baramulla wherein it was found that every package of the said edible oil was short in net quantity of the oil beyond maximum permissible error as allowed under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. Further, the said packages of oil were also found to be without the mandatory declaration of consumer care details which is an offence under the above-mentioned provisions of the Law.
A case has been registered by the Department against the offender and further legal proceedings are being initiated in the instant case.
