Srinagar : J& K Civil Society Coordination Committee Saturday said that it will file a petition before Supreme Court of India for restoration of internal autonomy as per the Delhi Agreement of 1952. It also asked people to boycott Panchayat and Civic body elections till the dismissal of Article 35A petition.
Addressing a press conference here in Srinagar, leaders of J&K Civil Society Coordination Committee Muzaffar Ahmed Shah, Mir Javed Ahmad Advocate J&K High Court and Jagmohan Singh Raina said it was good to see all parties including a galaxy of lawyers coming in defense of Article 35A in Supreme Court of India.
“We appeal to all political parties, civil society members across Jammu and Kashmir to continue exhibiting a united face to the whole world and ensure boycott of the upcoming Panchayat and Civic Body Elections to the held in the State. No one should participate in these elections till the petition against the Article 35A is dismissed by the Apex Court. These elections are a futile exercise and the civil society will ensure a complete boycott,” they said adding his party Awami National Conference not only supports the boycott call but it will also launch a campaign in this regard.
They said that time has come for all stake holders, whether separatist or mainstream, civil society members of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to join hands to arrive at a consensus as principle parties of the vexed Kashmir issue having consumed over three generations to come up with specific recommendations for a peaceful solution acceptable to India, Pakistan and people of Jammu and Kashmir on both sides of the line of control.
“Article 370 and 35A have once again united us and it is our duty to come to the negotiation table across the State,” they said.
Shah ,y Jagmohan Singh Raina and Advocate Mir Javaid Ahmed said that in next week of this month, a petition will be filed before the Supreme Court of India for restoration of Internal Autonomy as per Delhi Agreement of 1952.
