Urs of Amir-Kabir observed with religious fervor

Srinagar: The 653rd Urs of Hazat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdani or Amir-e-Kabir was observed at Khanqah Moula in old Srinagar city on Monday with religious fervor and enthusiasm.
Syed Ali bin Shahab-ud-Din Hamadani Abidi (1314-1384) also known as “Shah Hamdan” (King of Hamadhan) and as Amir-i Kabir (the Great Commander) was a Persian Sufi and a prominent Muslim scholar. He was very influential in spreading Islam in Kashmir and has had a major hand in shaping the culture of the Kashmir valley.
He also introduced the skills of famed handicraft amongst the people for which Kashmir is famous all over the world.
Every year, devotees in Kashmir observe his Urs and throng to Khanqah Moula in thousands. On Saturday as usual thousands of devotees throng the shrine where they recited verses of Holy Quran, which was followed by Duaiya Majlis. The Urs is observed on 6 Zil Hijjah every year.
Islamic scholars shed light on the life and achievements of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA). They expressed hope that the teachings of Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) shall remain alive in all times to come.
The Urs was organized by Muslim Waqaf Board.
The Urs of Shah Hamdhan (RA) was also observed with religious fervor at Khankah Faizpanah Tral, Jinab Sahab Soura, Aasar Sharif Kalashpora, Kabamarg and Khiram Sirhama in Anantnag, Dooru Seer Hamdan, Aham Sharif Bandipora, Budgam, Kupwara and Bandipora.
