Srinagar: Reacting to a Greater Kashmir report regarding the cancellation of a contract to an Indo-Sino company for Wular dredging, Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that the contract for Wular dredging awarded to Indo-Sino company by the previous Mehbooba led PDP-BJP government and cancelled by the government after imposition of governor’s rule in the state is a fit case for Governor N N Vohra to send it to Accountability Commission (AC) and State Vigilance Commission (SVC).
“Cancelling is just one part. This is a fit case for @jandkgovernor to send to the Accountability Commission & the State Vigilance Commission for investigation,” National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging website Twitter.
He was reacting to the decision of the Vohra administration about the cancellation of the ‘controversial’ 389-crore contract to Indo-Sino company. The contract was awarded to Indo-Sino company by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition government last year.
Nearly a year after a ministerial panel cleared an Indo-Sino company to dredge the Wular Lake, the Governor’s administration has cancelled the contract that had run into controversy over some financial issues.
