Srinagar: Principal Secretary, Planning, Development& Monitoring, Rohit Kansal, Friday reviewed the preparations for upcoming Niti Aayog conference to be convened at SKICC here for fast-tracking implementation of Centrally-Sponsored Schemes.

Speaking at a meeting convened in his office chambers here this afternoon, Kansal said the main aim of the high-level conference is to assess the impact and potential of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and how to speed up their implementation in Jammu and Kashmir. “This can be achieved by open and direct interaction of the government officials with the civil society groups and NGOs,” he said.

The Principal Secretary said the conference will discuss themes such as ‘Youth Engagement’, ‘Self-Employment’ and ‘Children in Conflict with Law’. “There will be a main plenary session which will be followed by six break-out sessions of NGOs. These sessions will be attended by representatives from the state as well as the central government. During the meeting, Kansal took stock of the preparations being made by the J&K government for hosting the dignitaries of the Government of India, their security protocol and accommodation. “We will pool resources from our own departments to depute a liaison officer with all the officers of the Government of India,” he said.

The meeting was informed that top representatives of the Government of India, Niti Aayog, J&K Government, over three dozen NGOs from Jammu and Kashmir and 10 more from other states will hold day-long deliberations on July 26 to work out modalities for fast-tracking the implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the state’s Social Welfare sector.
