Kupwara: A youth was killed and another injured after army allegedly opened fire on protesters in Trehgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Khalid Gaffar Malik (22), son of Abdul Gaffar Malik. Reports said that army soldiers opened fire after youth pelted their vehicles with stones at Zargar mohalla in Trehgam.Malik, who had suffered a bullet injury in his throat, was shifted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed.
Meanwhile district administration has decided to suspend class work in all the schools and colleges of Kupwara district tomorrow, said an official.He said that class work will remain suspended in all schools and colleges of Kupwara district tomorrow (July 12) “as a precautionary measure”. The move comes in the wake of killing of a youth in alleged army firing in Trehgam area of the district.
