Leh: A high-level Congress delegation led by former union finance minister P Chidambaram met several delegations, including members of civil society, in Ladakh region on Monday.
A Congress leader said that more than ten delegations on Monday meet Congress Planning and Policy group, comprising of Mr Chidambaram, senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Tariq Hamid Karra, in border town of Kargil.
He said the the deputations which met the panel included Ladakh Autonomus Hill Council Kargil, Buddhist Association of Kargil, Bar Association Kargil, members of the minority communities, Ahli Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Merchant Association, EJAC Kargil, Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, DCC Kargil, Zanaskar Sub Division and various other deputations.
“The delegations discussed current situation in the state in particularly in the valley and appealed Congress leaders to play their role to normalize the situation,” he said.
“The people of Kargil are against the trifurcation and we need a peaceful settlement of current turmoil in Kashmir and once for all the solution of Kashmir issue,” MLA Kargil, Asgar Karbalai, told reporters.
Lashing at the BJP, Mr Karbalai said that the saffron party has pushed the state of Jammu and Kashmir into a tough situation. “By pulling out from the coalition government, the BJP has expressed its failure by tackling the situation the state, he said.
Later, the panel visited Leh and met with several delegations, including political and social groups, there.
