Appealing people to forge unity among their folds, the JRL said it is our prime duty to defeat all efforts of occupational forces, police, intelligence agencies and make their shrived move a failure.
The joint resistance leadership alleged that the workers and leaders of resistance movement arrested by NIA have been subjected to psychological torture and inhuman treatment by NIA and the authorities in Tihar jail.
In a statement, the leadership paid their rich tributes to detained leadership and activists and expressed concern over the “ill and inhuman” treatment meted out to senior resistance leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar ,Shahid ul Islam, Peer Saif Ullah, Meraj u Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmad Khan ,Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahid ul Islam, Mohd Aslam Wani, Zahoor Ahmad Watali ,Masarat Aalam Bhat, Dr Gh Mohd Bhat, Muzafar Ahmad Dar ,Dr Mohd Qasim , Dr Shafi Sharieti, Gh Qadir Bhat, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, Tariq Ahmad , Manzoor Ahmad ,Gh Mohd Khan Sopori, Siraj u Din Mir, Meer Hafiz Ullah ,M Yusuf Mir, Ameer Hamza Shah, M Yusuf Falahi, Ab Gani Bhat, Molana Sarjan Barkati, Shakil Ahmad Yatoo, Ab Rashid Maglo, Farooq Tawheedi and scores of others. The leadership said that repressive measures, intimidations, harassment, killing and maiming won’t break our resolve or force us to submissions and despite all odds, will pursue sacred mission of martyrs.
Appealing international organizations of human rights, the JRL impressed to take serious cognizance of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners and asked to visit jails to take on spot notice of apathetic and deteriorating situations in jails.
A spokesperson of JRL while taking strong note of caging and detaining leadership, said Syed Ali Geelani, Mohd Yasin Malik, Mohd Ashraf Sehrai, and Bilal Sidiqee were placed under house arrest.
Lashing at state authorities for laying curbs, declaring restrictions, JRL said present regime has set a “new example of religious interference” as people were once again barred from offering congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.
Decrying the frequent curbs and sealing of Jamia Masjid on Fridays, the JRL strongly denounced the imposition of curbs in majority of Downtown areas of Srinagar and condemned the state authorities for “being anti-Muslim” and accused it of “crossing all limits of repression by creating a history of barring Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid.
