Srinagar: A team of Food Safety Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar inspected various food manufacturing units at Industrial Estate Khonmoh. During inspection one of the units namely BOSS Chips Pvt Ltd that manufactures Jam, Pickle, Honey and Juice was operating in total unsanitary conditions. The fruit pulp in huge quantity was stored in unclean plastic drums and the same had developed rancid smell. The juice bottles were stored without inscribing on them the mandatory label declaration. Expired honey bottles were found to have been brought back from market and there was every apprehension of their contents being mixed with fresh stock.

The unit was also running without having requisite license under FSS Act. Samples were lifted and in the interest of public health the unit was sealed and the prohibited order was issued on spot. In addition, 9 samples of various food commodities were also lifted from other units for analytical purpose.
