Srinagar: The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded the hottest day of the season so far after the mercury surged and settled at 35 degree, about nine notches above normal.
The weather will remain dry during the next 48 hours in Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, a Met department spokesperson told UNI.
Meanwhile, maximum temperature in rest of the areas in the valley also remained several degrees above normal.
He said the maximum temperature on Sunday was 35 degrees, about nine degree above normal while the minimum temperature was 14.5 degrees, two notches above normal in Srinagar, where people are observing fast.
“Sky will be mainly clear during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 33 degree and 15 degree,” he added.
In the world famous health resort of Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine, where the annual yatra will commence later this month, the maximum temperature was 28.8 degrees, six notches above normal.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg also witnessed increase in the mercury, which surged and settled at 23 degree, about six notches above normal while the minimum temperature settled over 4 degree above normal.
The maximum temperature at another tourist resort of Kokernag, Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir and Kupwara in north Kashmir, settled at 32.6 degree, 34 degree and 34.1 degree, respectively.
He said sky will be mainly clear during the next 24 hours in Leh, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 27 degree and 9 degree, respectively.
