BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 12: On the directions of Transport Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, a joint enforcement drive was conducted by the ARTO Bandipora and Traffic Police across Bandipora town to ensure regulated and lawful operation of e-autos.
During the drive, 23 e-autos were penalized for violations of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, rules framed thereunder and the applicable policy. Besides, a few e-autos were shifted to Nasoo Bus Stand for regulated operation. Vehicles found parked along the roadside despite the availability of designated parking facilities, particularly around Gulshan Chowk, were also proceeded against.
An amount of approximately ₹1.60 lakh is expected to be realized as penalty/compounding amount from the violations detected during the drive.
The e-auto drivers were sensitized and directed to operate primarily from Nasoo Bus Stand for passenger transportation, in accordance with the applicable rules and policy. They were also directed to install and use prescribed fare meters in their vehicles.
The enforcement drive is part of the ongoing efforts of the District Administration and enforcement agencies to ensure safe, orderly and regulated operation of e-autos while facilitating convenient public transport and effective last-mile connectivity for commuters.
