Srinagar: Traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was on Sunday suspended due to shooting stone, which resulting in the damage of two vehicles.
However, all the passengers of both the vehicle escaped unhurt in the incident.
”We suspended traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway following shooting stones at Panthiyal near Ramban,” a traffic police official told UNI.
He said shooting stones, triggered by rain since this afternoon, occurred at Panthiyal, causing damage to a mini-bus and a cab at around 1550 hrs. “All the passengers of both the vehicle escaped unhurt in the incident, he said, adding the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, immediately put into service sophisticated machines and men to clear the road.
“Traffic will be allowed only after getting a green signal from BRO and officials posted at various places along the highway,” he added.
