Srinagar: At least 3 militants including one from Srinagar city were killed in South Kashmir during a gun fight on Monday morning. Meanwhile militant outfit Tehreek Ul Mujahideen (TeM)claimed that Eisa Fazli was its district commander for Srinagar who served Freedom Struggle from the core of his heart.
A police official said that pursuing credible leads of presence of militants Forces started search in the Hakoora area of Anantnag district.
“While the search was going on the hiding militants fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated by the security forces ensuing an encounter.”
“In the said encounter,3 militants were killed which include Eesa Fazli of Srinagar, Syed Owais of Kokernag and a third militant whose identity is being ascertained,” said the official.
“In the process arms and ammunition which include AK 47 rifles, pistols, hand grenades were recovered from the encounter site. Further in the said incident no collateral damage has taken place.”
Police claimed that among the killed militants, one was involved in a recent attack on a police guard post at Soura in which one police constable had been killed.
In this connection a case has been registered and investigation has been started under the relevant provisions of the law by the Police.
Meanwhile thousands of mourners participated in the last rites of slain militants in Kokarnag and Soura Srinagar. In Soura, large number of people amid pro-freedom slogans took out a mourning procession. The slain militant from the area Eesa Fazli was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans.
The Islamic state flags were also displayed by some mourners as body of Fazili reached his home.
Pro Zakir Musa slogans were also raised by the people, even as pro-Kashmir patriotic number were played out of masjid loudspeakers in the area.
Fazli according to reports belonged to Tehreek-ul-Mujhadeen.
Another militant Syed Owais was also laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans. Over six rounds of funeral prayers were held for him at his native Gohan Vailoo village in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Meanwhile militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujhadeen (TeM) Monday paid rich tribute to the three militants killed in Hakoora Kokarnag gunfight.
The outfit claimed that Eisa Fazli was its district commander for Srinagar who served Freedom Struggle from the core of his heart.
In a statement to local news gathering agency CNS, Tehreek-ul-Mujhadeen said that three militants were killed in Hakoora when Indian Forces personnel in large numbers cordoned off the area. “The militants retaliated and inflicted damage to Forces as well.”
The outfit Chief Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman while paying tribute to them said that their mission will be taken to logical conclusion.
The outfit also claimed the responsibility of grenade attack on Kralkhud Police Station on Saturday night.
