Ramban: District Development Commissioner, Tariq Hussain Ganai Tuesday inspected the NH44 widening project from Nashri to Banihal including the under-construction tunnels and took stock of the progress of the project.

He inspected the condition of the NH44 in view of its deteriorating condition and the heavy traffic of load carriers and passenger vehicles on it.

Tehsildar, Ramban, Parmod Kumar besides managers and engineers of the construction companies also accompanied the DDC.

While inspecting National Highway four laning construction works, the DDC directed the concerned agencies to expedite the work to get it completed in time. He directed the agencies to provide most of Jobs and other employment opportunities to locals.

The DDC was also apprised of other allied issues related to the construction work of four laning like dumping of muck wherein he directed the agencies to dump the muck only at identified locations.

The widening of Nashri to Ramban and Ramban to Banihal stretches is part of the NHAI flagship project of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway four laning.  HCC Ltd. is working on Ramban to Banihal section of the NH44 while as Gammon India Ltd. is engaged in widening Nashri-Ramban section.

It is pertinent to mention here that Nashri to Banihal will comprise two bypasses (Ramban and Chanderkote bypass), including major and minor bridges, culverts, junctions, bus truck lay byes besides tunnels.
