Srinagar: The Opposition comprising National Conference, Congress, CPI (M), PDF and Awami Itihad Party would move two separate no confidence motions against Speaker Assembly Kavinder Gupta in Assembly and Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali over their alleged participation in a meeting convened by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to review the strategy for facing the opposition of the opposition parties in the Assembly and Legislative Council.
Quoting sources local news gathering agency KNS reported that a decision to move no confidence motion against Speaker Assembly Kavinder Gupta and chairman legislative Council has been taken unanimously by the Opposition parties.
Senior National Conference Leader and former Speaker Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone (MLA Sonawari) said”I condemn the participation of both Speaker Assembly and Chairman Legislative Council in a meeting of PDP-BJP coalition called by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to review the strategy of the Government for the budget session. Speaker is the custodian of the House and not member of any political party. His work and conduct should be neutral and over and above the party affiliations. The Participation of Speaker Assembly in a meeting called by Chief Minister is an insult to Assembly the highest law making body of the State.”
Congress Legislature party leader Nawang Rigzin Jora When contacted said”The participation of Speaker Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali is highly objectionable and condemnable. I Condemn the conduct of the Speaker as he has proved to be the Speaker of the party on the ticket of which he has won the elections. We have floor coordination with the National Conference and will fully support the no confidence motion against Speaker in the Assembly and chairman legislative council in the Legislative Council.
Speaker Assembly Kavinder Gupta when contacted said “I was invited for dinner by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and i had gone there attend the dinner only but not to discuss political issues concerning the ongoing budget session of the Assembly.”
However Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali when contacted said “Yes I called on the Chief Minister but not for discussing the issues concerning the conduct of budget session but for conveying her my inability to attend a function being held in Srinagar on the eve of death anniversary of former Chief Minister late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
