Srinagar: The Department of Legal Metrology, Srinagar Tuesday booked a textile store owner in Srinagar for Maximum Retail Price violation.
According to a statement of LMD, a complaint was received from a Srinagar citizen against a textile store for overcharging on an electric blanket.
The complainant was charged Rs 3000, whereas the MRP printed on the label of the product was only Rs 2600, the statement said.
The LMD the electric blanket was falling under the GST rate of 18% and the blanket was not carrying the revised label as is required under Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
“The complainant felt cheated and lodged the complaint. The Department held the store responsible for not adhering to the instructions of GST Rules for unsold stock and was penalized Rs.5000 for the lapse,” the statement said.
