Ganga chairs SICOP’s 136th BoD meet

Jammu:  Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga, chaired the 136th meeting of Board of Directors of J&K State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (SIDCO), here Tuesday.

Minister of State for Industries & Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Vice-Chairman J&K SIDCO Subash Jandial besides other senior officers were present in the meeting.

Ganga, who is Chairman of the Board, took a detailed review of the progress on various industrial infrastructure projects being executed by the Corporation.

The meeting was informed that the Corporation has a fully developed land bank of 26839 kanal in the shape of industrial estates in the state and 2347 units have been established in here, providing direct employment to 65667 persons.

Terming SIDCO as vital unit for creation of Industrial Estates in the state, Ganga asked the concerned officers to work with a missionary spirit to further develop industrial sector and attract industrialists for establishing industrial units in the state.

As a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility, the Minister directed Managing Director to take up initiatives for providing education and other facilities to differently abled children in the state.

Stressing on effective management of hazardous waste material in industrial estates, the Minister directed the concerned to ensure that the industrial units strictly adhere to the set norms and set up effluent treatment plants for proper treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste to protect environment. He sought cooperation of all stakeholders in this regard with proper information dissemination and awareness so that all contribute towards environmental protection.

The meeting also reviewed the physical progress of projects being executed by the Corporation including Trade Facilitation Centre at Salamabad Uri, Phase II, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), I.T Tower building at Rangreth Phase-II, Construction of Conference Hall at IGC, Lassipora, Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and other works.

The meeting also discussed the proposal envisaging implementation of health insurance cover for the employees, sanction of honorarium in favour of Directors of the Board, revised budget proposals for financial year 2017-18 and proposed budget for financial year 2018-19 etc.

Among others, Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar, MD SIDCO, Jaswinder Singh Dua, Director Industries & Commerce Jammu, Director Industries & Commerce Kashmir, Directors on BOD SIDCO, Rakesh Gupta, Lalit Mahajan, besides representatives from Finance and Planning Department and officers from Industries & Commerce Department & JK SIDCO were present in the meeting.
