Asiea visits Hazratbal shrine, reviews Milad arrangements

Srinagar: Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash Monday visited Hazratbal shrine to take stock of the arrangements put in place for upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

On the occasion, the Minister chaired a meeting to review the arrangements and facilities made for devotees who will be visiting the Hazratbal shrine during Milad days starting 19 November.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Syed Abid Rashid, CEO J&K Wakaf Board Fayaz Ahmad, I.G Traffic, Jagjit Kumar, DIG Central, RTO, Chief Engineer PHE, PDD, General Manager SRTC and officers from SMC, Police, Traffic, Fire & Emergency Services, Health, and SRTC attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Minister was informed that SRTC would ply an adequate number of special buses for women from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal.  She was informed that Health Department would set up 5 medical camps with all healthcare facilities.

The meeting was told that SMC will deploy 110 workers for round the clock sanitation in and around the shrine beside 4 mobile toilets will be put in place at different locations.

Officials of PDD assured that they will provide uninterrupted electricity besides repairing defunct lights in the area and would also keep 60-70 KV generators available to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the shrine.

The meeting was told that PHE will provide round the clock water supply and additional two water tankers would be kept available in the Shrine premises and more tankers will be provided if the need arises. The Minister directed the authorities of R&B department to repair all potholes and choked drains around the shrine.

The I.G Traffic said they will make public traffic route plans to prevent traffic jams and besides parking spaces will be earmarked as usual where devotees can park their vehicles.

The D.I.G Central assured of providing two more companies of lady constables in addition to already existing 70 constables besides installing of more CCTV cameras outside the shrine to prevent any law and order situation.

The Minister asked all the departments to ensure all arrangements well in time to facilitate the devotees paying obeisance at the shrine and said she will personally monitor the arrangements during all these days.

The Minister directed the Wakaf Board Authorities to ensure proper flooring and heating arrangements besides comfortable tents in and around the Shrine so that devotees do not face any kind of problem.
