Sopore: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Education Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Revenue Ab Rehman Veeri, Minister for Horticulture Syed Basharat Bukhari and Vice Chairman Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporations Nizam Ud Din Bhat Saturday visited Sopore to personally condole with the family of late Atiqa Bano, the noted educationist and heritage activist, who passed away two days ago.
The Chief Minister during her visit described late Atiqa Bano as a crusader for the upliftment and empowerment of women in the State. She said her untiring efforts through Majlis un Nissa to make women in north Kashmir educationally empowered or through the establishment of first of its kind Meeras Mahal at Sopore is a lesson for us to be active and serious in contributing to the society and protection of our heritage, culture and language. Mehbooba Mufti sat with the members of bereaved family of late Atiqa Bano, offered fateha and prayed for eternal solace to the deceased.
Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari has expressed condolences on the demise of a noted educationist, heritage activist and former Director, Education and Libraries, Atiqa Bano of Sopore. In his condolence message, the Minister said Atiqa Bano’s rich contribution towards education sector in the State would always be remembered. He termed her as a torchbearer of reforms and a pious soul. While praying for peace to the departed soul, Bukhari expressed sympathies with the bereaved family. Minister for Revenue Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Abdul Rehman Veeri also visited house of noted cultural activist Atiqa Bano at Spopore and expressed sympathies with the family. The Minister was accompanied by Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Vice-Chairman, Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation. They hailed Late Atiq Bano’s efforts in furthering educational scenario and preserving the past heritage and culture of Kashmir. They also praised her efforts of setting up first of its kind Meeras Mahal at Sopore which the deceased continued to supervise till her death.
Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari Saturday also visited Sopore to offer personal condolences to the family of Late Atiqa Banoo. Atiqa Bano a noted educationist, heritage activist and former Director, Education and Libraries, breathed her last earlier this week.
Syed Basharat Bukhari while recalling the contribution of Late Atiqa Bano in preserving Kashmir’s heritage and culture said her contribution is historic which would be very difficult to emulate. He said it was due to her relentless efforts that led to the setting up of first of its kind Meeras Mahal at Sopore which the deceased continued to supervise till her death.
The Minister also recalled the efforts of Atiqa Bano in the spread of education in north Kashmir, particularly among women. He said she was the founder of Majlis-un-Nissa, the first ever women exclusive educational organization in north Kashmir which rendered yeoman’s service for educational spread among the young girls of the area for which the late educationist would be remembered for ever
The Minister also prayed for peace to the departed soul of late Atiqa Bano and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
