High Court conducts Lok Adalat in Srinagar, settles 18 cases

Srinagar: A Lok Adalat was conducted Saturday in the premises of J&K High Court, Srinagar by High Court Legal Services Committee, as a part of National Lok Adalat.

As many as 331 cases in which 238 pre-litigation Cases and 93 cases pending before the High Court wing were taken up for amicable settlement between the parties. Out of total 335 cases, around 18 cases were settled and amount of Rs. 28, 86, 338 was awarded.

Three Benches had been constituted for holding of the Lok Adalat held under the guidance and directions of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed (Patron-in-chief of SLSA), Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Executive Chairman SLSA and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Chairman J&K HCLSC.

The Benches were presided by 2nd Additional District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar Tahir Khurshid Raina, 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary, and 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge Srinagar Kamlesh Panditha.

Secretary High Court Legal Services Committee overall managed the conduct of the Lok Adalat.
