Srinagar: Top militant commander Abu Dujana who was killed in Hakripora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district was the biggest ‘headache’ for the Security establishments.
Lashkar-e-Toiba Commander Abu Dujana who carried a bounty of Rs 15 lakh was killed in a gunfight in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday morning. Jammu Kashmir Police has described his killing as a big success as he was life line of militancy in Valley particularly in South Kashmir.
A resident of Gilgat-Baltistan in Pakistan administered Kashmir; Abu Dujana according to an Intelligence report joined militant rank at a tender age of 17 and was an expert in border crossing. He made South Kashmir his base and spent much of his time in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
Abu Dujana was known by different name but his associates according to police sources used to call him by the name of ‘Hafiz’. He was an A+++ category militant who had managed to give Forces a slip on different occasions. Intelligence reports said that he was working for different militant outfits and at present he was closely linked with Zakir Musa, who recently disassociated himself with Hizbul Mujhadeen.
Hakripora village of Kakapora Pulwama where he was killed Tuesday proved lucky for him once when stone-pelters helped him to break the cordon. Reports said that at least five times, he managed to escape from any cordon and search operation launched by government forces.
Dujana was also known for his fiery speeches that he used to deliver on the funeral of slain militants. In one such speech in May 2016, he impressed upon people of Kashmir to to take the fight to the Indian army. Lift up your guns and fight against the Indian army, he said before a crowd.
A Police official once remarked that Dujana was a major headache for the Indian security establishment. The 27 year old militant commander was the mastermind of Udhampur attack in which two BSF personnel had died while he was also behind the Pampore attack that left 8 Para-military Central Reserve Police Forces personnel dead.
Abu Dujana assumed the charge of LeT militant outfit after the death of Abu Qasim, the militant who was killed in South Kashmir and whose funeral was attended by tens of thousands of people.
An intelligence bureau dossier on Dujana states that the target of Dujana was always Indian Army.
Police blamed him for most of the bank robbery incidents that occurred at different places of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district including Wahibugh, Ratnipora, Shopian and Nehama.
Internal sources said that Abu Dujana had recently joined Zakir Musa led unknown organization and was closely associated with them.
