New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today said Jammu and Kashmir is the ”internal matter of our country and no one else has anything to do with it”.
Addressing reporters here, Gandhi, when asked to respond to comments by National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah suggesting a third party intervention in Jammu and Kashmir, said, ”Kashmir is our internal matter. No one else has anything to do with it.”
On suggestions of discussions with China and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue, Gandhi said, ”To those who are saying discussions on Kashmir should be held with China and Pakistan, I would say that ‘Kashmir is India and ‘India is Kashmir’.”
Attacking the Narendra Modi government on its Kashmir policy, Gandhi said, ”I have been saying for quite some time that the policies of the NDA have burnt Jammu and Kashmir .’’
Earlier, Dr Abdullah has called for a dialogue with Pakistan to solve the Kashmir issue. He has also suggested discussions with friendly nations (China and the US) on the issue.
”Trump himself said I want to settle Kashmir problem, we didn’t ask them to. China too said they want to mediate in Kashmir,” Dr Abdullah has stated.
