Srinagar: Kashmir Transporters observed ‘Chakka jam’ across Valley against the proposal of shifting of Batmaloo General Bus Stand to Parimpora on the outskirts of Srinagar.
The call for ‘chakka jam’ was given by Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association and various traders associations who are protesting against the move, saying it would cause them huge business losses.
Reports said that due to ‘chakka jam’ passengers faced lot of inconvenience as buses were off the roads. The traders whose shops are located in the vicinity of Batamaloo Bus Stand also observed shutdown against the government move. “Our business will collapse in case this bus stand is shifted to other place,” the shopkeepers said.
The transporters also staged an anti-government protest. The transporters threatened that they will set their buses on fire if government doesn’t shelve the said proposal.
