Srinagar: After the attack on yatris late last evening, resulting in 7 yatris being killed and 19 injured, Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, held a mid-night meeting to review the course of the Yatra. It was decided that the pilgrimage shall continue without any diminution whatsoever and this decision was conveyed to all Camp Directors and to the Yatri Niwas, Jammu, from where yatris leave for the Valley in a convoy every morning.
Tuesday morning Governor held a meeting, in the Yatra Control Room, with Shri Umang Narula, CEO, Shri Jitendra Singh, Additional CEO, and other senior officers of the Shrine Board, to monitor the pace of Tuesday’s pilgrimage. It was reported to him that:
3289 yatris had left Jammu at 3 am in the morning for Pahalgam and Baltal Yatra Base Camps;
by 10.30 am Tuesday 18838 yatris had left for the Holy Cave Shrine from Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni and Baltal Yatra Camps; 5556 yatris who left Chandanwari this morning would need to halt en-route and reach the Shrine the next day;
The Heli-services from Pahalgam and Neelgrath are operating normally as the weather is clear.
Governor directed CEO to ensure that, with effect from Tuesday, twice a day review meetings are held.
