Srinagar: Kashmir Valley, including summer capital Srinagar, is experiencing chilly weather conditions due to intermittent rain since Monday, forcing people to wear warm cloths, including jackets and sweaters. Meanwhile, the night temperature also dipped across Kashmir Valley, where more wet weather is predicted during the next 48 hours. A Met Department spokesperson told UNI that light to moderate rain and thundershowers would occur at most places in the state, with isolated heavy fall in Jammu division during the next 24 hours. World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, received intermittent rain since Monday, resulting in chilly weather conditions. The night temperature dipped a degree from yesterday in Gulmarg due to rain and overcast conditions and settled at 9 degree, which is a degree below normal. “The weather is very cold in this ski resort due to intermittent rain since Monday. It is raining cats and dogs since morning, but that has not deterred tourists from enjoying themselves,” a hotelier told UNI over the phone from Gulmarg. Incessant rain lashed this summer capital since late last night, resulting in further dip in the maximum and minimum temperatures. People in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley could be seen wearing warm clothes, including jackets and sweaters, to evade chilly weather conditions. The night temperature in Srinagar dipped about 2 degree from yesterday and settled at 13.7 degree, which is 2 degree below normal. Yesterday the day temperature recorded in this summer capital was 4 degree below normal. The spokesperson said there is possibility of rain and thundershowers during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be 25 degree and 13 degree, respectively. Chill also returned to world famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, which received incessant rain since early this morning. “It has been raining nonstop since this morning, resulting in further dip in the maximum temperature. But, tourists are having a time of their life as the rain adds to the mesmerising picture perfect beauty of this health resort. They are going gaga over it,” a hotelier from Pahalgam told UNI over the phone. Rain also lashed Qazigund, gateway to Kashmir Valley, tourist resort of Kokernag and Kupwara in north Kashmir, resulting in further dip in maximum and minimum temperatures is these areas. UNI
