Srinagar/June,12:: Terminated Wireless Operators from Jammu Kashmir Police Department Monday staged a protest alleging that despite court directions, the department is not reinstating them.
In January this year, over 200 Wireless Operators who were selected at district level in J&K Police Telecommunications in 2009 were terminated in compliance with the court directions.
Among the 231 terminated wireless operators 90 belongs to Kashmir while 141 are from Jammu region.
The terminated Wireless Operators who assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar said that the single bench of both Jammu High Court and Kashmir High Court issued a stay to the earlier order under which they were terminated. The High Court has directed the department to reinstate us, but the Prosecution Cell of the Department is unwilling to implement the court order.
“We fail to understand on what grounds the court order is not being implemented. The termination order was quickly implemented while the reinstate order has been kept in abeyance,” the protestors said.
They said that a competent police recruitment board made selection of more than 900 candidates as constable operators in 2009 after going through proper selection process that consumed 3 precious years of the candidates from the time of the publication of the advertisement notice. “Our only fault is that some disqualified candidates approached court and sought stay order on the selection list. But now the Court has stayed its earlier order, we want authorities to implement it in letter and spirit. ” they said.
