D&FCO conducts special drive in Jammu

Jammu/June,9: A team of Food Safety officers of Drug & Food Control Organization headed by Designated Officer Jammu District Sanjeev Kumar Gupta conducted surprise checks of Food Business vendors at different areas of the city including Roop Nagar, Bakshi Nagar Janipur and Mohalla Paharian.

During the drive, six samples of different food article including carbonated water, honey, paneer and haldi powder were taken for testing purposes.  Two vendors were challaned for carrying out business under unhygienic and insanitary conditions including.

Moreover, Momos lying in unhygienic conditions were also destroyed on spot as an abundant precaution in Bakshi Nagar, Janipur, Lakharmandi.

A closure  notice was served to  vendor dealing in processing of Honey under the name and style ‘Sonia Honey’ for carrying out business without valid food license and not fulfilling the requirement as laid down under the Food Safety & Standards Act.

All the Food Business operators have been advised to strictly adhere to the provisions laid under FSS Act and maintain high standards of sanitary & hygienic conditions to guarantee safe food to end users and to carry out the food Business after obtaining proper Food Licenses.
