Kashmir resolution an article of faith with PDP: Sartaj Madani

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice President, Mohammad Sartaj Madani Wednesday said that resolution of Kashmir issue is an article of faith with the party and forms core of the vision of the its patron Mufti Mohammad Syed.
In a statement issued to KNS Madani said that Mufti Mohammad Syed earned good will across the borders for his ideas and agenda’s he set and struggled for to achieve and accomplish this objective. He had strong faith that neither war nor any machinations were any substitute to dialogue and reconciliation to achieve this goal.
Referring to various statements coming from no less the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other important leaders in Union Government reflected in various statements on the issue, he said that those who can feel pain of the people living in perpetual uncertainty and in an atmosphere of acrimony will acknowledge that resolution of the impending problem brooks no delay.
Madani said that Rajnath Singh’s statement that the Government was making efforts to resolve Kashmir issue at the earliest assumes significance and PDP which has forged alliance with BJP with a sincere desire to see the state wriggled out of agonizing instability, will see its objective accomplished if it happens sooner than later.
He said history is witness to the fact that PDP’s emergence as a political entity was necessitated by the urgency to give the suffering people the much needed relief and to set the stage for reconciliation and dialogue with all stake holders including Hurriyat and Pakistan. A new discourse started with “Goli Nahi Boli.” The idea was ridiculed by the cynics and adversaries. But the party was vindicated as the vision of Mufti Mohammad Syed stood the test of public scrutiny. The situation changed from dismay to hope and from darkness to light. The Healing Touch Policy and Dialogue at internal and external levels gained credence. A spell of reconciliation from 2002 to 2005 between India and Pakistan as also the reach out at local level through concern and actual healing showed the way. Unfortunately, the process was scuttled at the peril o f the people.
Madani said now when the crisis is again on hands, voices of solution are bound to become thick which everyone will welcome. But there has to be clarity, both on approach as well as on the objective, like PDP did in past with a virtual consensus among the stake holders through healing touch and unambiguous understanding and urge to reach a resolution. PDP is in alliance with BJP on a clear agenda of peace and dialogue on Kashmir agreed by both, as part of its agenda since emergence. The party will follow this with fidelity and against all odds, he asserted.
He said honesty demands that sufferings and helplessness of the people ends and their genuine aspirations are met. “This is not possible without sincere desire of gaing their trust and involving all stake holders in the process,” he added.
Madani said that ever since PDP’s alliance with BJP, the party has been seeking a new beginning on the known formula of Insaniyat, Jamhoriyat and Kashmiriyat of Atal Bihari . The agenda of alliance well reflects the belief and the motive. Delay in its implementation is killing as the region is back in vicious cycle of violence and poor Kashmiris are becoming its worst victims.
He said Mufti Syed acted as Chief Minister relentlessly to see that people of state are not subjected to humiliation, torture or coercion and his Healing Touch Policy brought the desired relief. Similarly , his policy of battle of ideas , facilitated by Vajpayee’s open and honest intentions involved people , political parties and Governments of India and Pakistan in a focused effort for mutual reconciliation.
Who does’nt know how broders had started becoming irrelevant and people lived in peace through open and honest implementation of his will by Vajpayeeji.
Madani asked adding People had reposed faith and facilitated the right moves as these were obviously for them and their good.
He said the very idea of PDP’s emergence and existence was and continues to be this, which we own with dignity. We have strong faith in our own struggle and logic of the party which hinges on reconciliation, re;life and dialogue, he added.
Madani said those who care for upcoming generations, widows, orphans and real aspirations of the people of the state will surely put their act together to see that revival of Mufti’s vision is a way forward . This can happen only if the suffering people are put at the centre of concern and a joint effort is made to involve all stake holders in a meaningful process , unfortunately yet to made known.
Madani said people of Kashmir in particular and those in the region in general are agonized by confrontationist politics and provocative voices. There are many who only spoil. In such a situation crisis will further deepen than resolve and there will be endless violence to bruise the paradise beyond healing. One wishes that it doesn’t happen and people are relieved from endless truams.
He said it is high time that those who have values and respect humanity have to use their influence and power to change the discourse and let confidence building at all levels come to play again, to pave way for actual resolution of the issue. (KNS)
