More than hundred among those arrested, were re-arrested, slapped PSA and shifted to outside state jails.
Amalgam spokesman, Ayaz Akbar in a detailed statement said that 70-year-old Mohd Rustum Bhat was arrested and shifted to Udhampur and though bailed out by court, was re-arrested and lodged in Kupwara sub-jail under PSA. He is suffering from multiple ailments and no proper treatment is provided to him. Despite his deteriorating health condition, neither authorities release him, nor proper treatment is provided to him, said he.
Ailing leader Nasir Abdullah, since last three years is serving jail term in Kathua and court on medical grounds directed authorities for shifting back him to valley, however police while defying orders shifted him back to Kathua.
Seventy-year-old Sheikh Mohd Yusuf, is being subjected to vengeance, said Ayaz Akbar. He is suffering from multiple ailments, however instead of releasing him, authorities slapped PSA thrice and thus creating hurdles in his release.
Strongly condemning the use of PSA like black law against political leaders and common people, Hurriyat said that this law has been termed as “Law Less Law” by International community while as world bodies have rejected the prolonged imprisonment of any person in the name of preventive custody, but since the inception of BJP regime in Delhi, this draconian law is very vaguely used in Jammu and Kashmir to curb genuine voices of the people, said Hurriyat.
Lashing at district authorities in Baramulla, spokesman said that a sick minded police superintendent is very harsh against a section and police authorities here are playing deceitful role. Political leaders and activists are subjected to vengeance, said spokesman.
Hurriyat urged International Red Cross and Amnesty international to take note of pathetic condition of political detainees and impress upon India to shun its callous attitude towards detainees and use influence for immediate release of all detainees.
