Ramallah: Palestine’s government said that Israel, the occupying power, is to bear full responsibility for the lives of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails and detention centers, specifically the hunger strikers.
Palestinian government spokesperson Tareq Rashmawi stressed that Israel’s detention of thousands of prisoners, including children, women and the sick, as well as its racist campaign of incitement against the Palestinian prisoners require urgent intervention by the international community to stop these crimes, which constitute a serious violation of all international laws.
He added that the hunger strike of about 1,800 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails puts the credibility of the international community and its institutions at stake.
